How to show a channel breakdown for Demand Gen campaigns in Google Ads

Use the Ad network type dimension to split your Demand Gen results by Google surface: YouTube, Discover, Gmail and more

Demand Gen campaigns serve across multiple Google surfaces at once, including YouTube, Discover, and Gmail. By default, Whatagraph shows aggregated performance for the whole campaign. Adding the Ad network type dimension to a table widget splits the results into one row per surface, so you can compare performance across channels side by side.

Step 1. In edit mode, click “Add widget” in the right-hand drawer and select Table from the widget picker.

Step 2. In the Source tab, select your Google Ads source.

Step 3. Set the report type to Campaign.

Step 4. In the Dimensions field, add Ad network type. Each Google surface your campaign served on — YouTube, Discover, Gmail, Display Network — appears as a separate row.

Step 5. Add the metrics you want to compare across surfaces. Impressions, clicks, cost, and conversions are the most useful starting points for a Demand Gen breakdown.

Step 6. To show only your Demand Gen campaign instead of all campaigns in the account, add a filter. In the Filters section, filter on Campaign name (if your campaign has a recognizable name) or on Advertising channel type and set the value to Demand Gen.
