What's New in the Whatagraph Report Editor Experience

The report editing experience in Whatagraph just got a facelift. While all core features remain intact, the report editor sidebar has been redesigned to provide improved visibility, ease of use, and a more intuitive workflow.

This article outlines everything that has changed in the new report view, so you can get the most out of your reporting experience.

Overview: What Changed?

  • New layout for the report editing sidebar

1. Updated Sidebar Navigation

The new report editor sidebar features a cleaner, more intuitive layout designed to make every task one click closer.

Key Sections:

  • Sources: Manage and switch between your connected data sources

  • Widgets: Add or modify widgets using selected data

  • Report Settings: Customize themes, layout, and visual elements

Each section is collapsible and behaves just like before, but now with better structure and clarity.

The Sources tab lets you:

  • Connect multiple data platforms (e.g., Google Search Console, Facebook Ads)

  • Switch sources without leaving the editor

  • Easily collapse the section when not in use

The Widgets section allows you to:

  • Add widgets from different channels

  • Control widget settings specific to the data source

  • Navigate through source-specific widgets seamlessly

The Settings section lets you control layout and presentation. This section has been revamped with several key features:

  1. Page Orientation: Choose how your report is displayed:

  • Landscape: Ideal for dashboard-style layouts with wider widget visibility.

  • Portrait: Best suited for document-style reports.

2. Report Themes: Four pre-built themes are available:

  • Light

  • Dark

  • Gradient

  • White

Each theme includes a full preview and color swatch. Switching between them is instant.

3. Custom Themes

Expand this section to:

  • Create your own themes using brand colors

  • Generate themes using a written prompt or an image

  • Save themes globally for team-wide use

4. Email Theme

Control how your report looks when emailed:

  • Select from Whatagraph’s premade email templates or your own custom email themes.

5. Other Layout Options

  • Header and footer display toggle: Show or hide report headers and footers

  • Page numbers display toggle: Control whether pages are numbered

  • Widget corner radius: Choose the radius of your widgets (e.g."Large" radius)

2. Smarter Access to IQ Chat

IQ Chat has been relocated to the main editing sidebar, making it easier to access while working on a report.

With IQ Chat, you can:

  • Ask questions about the current report tab

  • Receive insights about individual data sources

  • Check help centre without switching views

3. Automations and Report Actions

The Automation and Actions sections are now conveniently placed in the editor sidebar, just above and below each other giving you immediate access to report delivery settings and management features.

Automations

Click on the Automation icon to set up automatic delivery for your reports. You can:

  • Schedule recurring email sends on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis

  • Choose delivery recipients (internal teams, clients, stakeholders)

  • Automate based on preferred time zones and delivery formats

This section gives you full control over when and how your reports are shared, ensuring timely delivery with zero manual effort.

Actions

Located just below Automation, the Actions section collects all critical report-level operations into one organized view. You can:

  • Save as template: Turn your current report layout into a reusable format

  • Move to space: Reorganize your report under the correct space or folder

  • Pin for the team: Highlight important reports for everyone to access easily

  • Favorite for you: Bookmark reports for quicker personal access

  • Duplicate: Instantly create a copy of the report for a new use case

  • Archive: Remove the report from active views without deleting it

  • Version history (Coming soon): View and restore previous report versions

4. Sharing and Downloading Reports

The Share and Download actions have not changed in how they work, but they’ve been relocated to the top-right toolbar of the report editor, making them faster to access.

Sharing a report:

  • Click the Share button in the top bar

  • Use Copy quick link to instantly generate a shareable link

Downloading a report:

  • Click the Download (.PDF) button in the top bar

  • Choose between merging all pages or keeping them separate

  • Export to Excel as needed
