Moving reports to spaces and folders: a step-by-step guide

This article will explain everything about moving reports to spaces or folders with a step-by-step guide that will guide you through this feature

Updated yesterday

Here are the main things you would have to know about this feature:

  • You can move a report to a space or folder of your choice. This applies to both new and already created reports.

  • You can move a report to only one space/folder at a time;

  • The feature is available on the right side of each existing report by clicking on the 3 dots, but also on the "Actions" menu from within the report;

  • You can either assign the report sources to the new destination space or convert all connected sources to sample data(this is usually done when you're duplicating a report for other clients, and want to use different sources).

However, keep this in mind:

  • You will not be able to move a report if another user has the same report open (''Move to space'' will show inactive under "Actions" with a tooltip);

  • Automated reports cannot be moved;

  • User Permissions: Admin and Manager roles will be available to move any report to any space/folder. Editors will be able to move reports only to the spaces/folders to which they have access (and between them).

How to move reports to spaces or folders

Let's say that I want to move the "PPC Reporting Template" report to the "PPC" folder within "Client A" space.

Step 1: I would have to hover over the report and click on the three dots. Then I would select the second option called "Move Report" and after that, you would need to select the space or folder that you would like to move the report to.

For the Grid view, you would need to click here to have access to this feature:

Step 2: After that, you will see the "Manage report sources" screen, if the report uses any sources that are not sample data. This gives you two options:
1. Move the report and keep the sources assigned to it.
2. Move the report without connected sources by converting it to sample data.

After this, all that's left is to click on "Move Report".

Tip: Click on "View sources" to check which sources are connected to the report before making your choice.

How to move to a space or folder within the report

You can also go into your report, click on "Actions" and then you will get the "Move to space" option there as well. Repeat the same process, and the report will be transferred to a different space or folder.
