Whatagraph does not have a built-in "row count" metric for Google Sheets, but you can create one in a minute: add a column of 1s to your sheet and let Whatagraph sum it. Use this when you need to report the number of records, leads, orders, or entries a sheet contains for the selected period.
Step 1. Open your Google Sheet and add a new column at the very end, to the right of your last existing column. Type a header, such as "Count," in the first row.
Step 2. Enter the number 1 in every data row of the new column. Every row you want counted needs a 1.
Step 3. Make sure the column holds numbers only. Select the column, then in Google Sheets, go to Format > Number > Number, so Whatagraph recognizes it as a metric rather than a dimension.
Note: If a number column contains any text values, Whatagraph treats the whole column as a dimension. Whatagraph Keep the Count column to nothing but the number 1.
Step 4. In Whatagraph, open the report that uses your Google Sheets source. Because Whatagraph maps columns by position, adding the Count column at the end keeps your existing widgets intact. Adding a column elsewhere might disrupt the existing widgets.
Step 5. Refresh the source so the new column appears. Reports refresh every hour on their own, so to pull the change in immediately, manually refresh the report. Refreshing a few times can resolve most cache-related issues that block the update.
Step 6. Add a widget to display the count. Open the Widgets drawer on the right side of the editor, drag a Single Value widget onto the report grid, and drop it into place. Select your Count metric, and click "Update."
Important: The count respects your report date range. Whatagraph sums the values for the selected period, so the number reflects only the rows whose dates fall within your report calendar, not the entire sheet.
