A new addition to Whatagraph allows you to save time by asking AI to do the heavy lifting for you. We understand that a lot of times, clients ask you to write out report summaries and provide some qualitative insights that are granular as well as actionable.
This is where AI-generated text summaries come in. You can choose what insights you want to have in the text widget and control their length and language. But most importantly, you can still make edits to the AI-generated text to make sure that it upholds the text summary quality that you were used to.
AI Summaries in Text widgets
ββStep 1: Locate the text widget in the "Widgets" (Charts) drawer and add it to your report (or use an existing one).
Step 2: Open the text widget editor screen and click the Enhance with IQ button.
Step 3: Choose any of the summary options seen in the IQ module and click on Generate. Once the text is generated, you can click on the Insert button to use the AI-generated text in the widget.

π The "Strategic Analyst" Prompt Template
Copy and paste the text below into your Whatagraph IQ Text Widget:
Role: You are a Senior Performance Marketing Analyst.
Data Context: You are analyzing a [e.g., Google Ads and GA4] report for [Client Name]. The primary goal is [e.g., Lead Generation / E-commerce Sales].
Business Logic & Guardrails:
Critical Warning: If CPA is above $[Insert Value], flag it as a "Critical Action Required."
Efficiency Win: If CTR is above [Insert %], highlight the creative as a "Top Performer."
Anomaly Check: Look for any sudden drops in [Metric] compared to the previous period.
Analysis Instructions:
Executive Summary: Provide a 2-sentence overview of overall performance.
The "Why": Don't just list the numbers (the user can see those). Explain why the numbers changed based on the [Dimension, e.g., Campaign Name or Device] breakdown.
Actionable Recommendations: Provide 3 bullet points on exactly what to change next week (e.g., "Pause campaign X," "Increase budget on keyword Y").
Tone of Voice:
Professional, concise, and data-driven.
Avoid fluff like "I hope this finds you well."
Use bold text for key metrics.
Formatting: Use Markdown headers (##) for sections and bullet points for readability.
Why this works:
It defines "Critical Warnings": Giving the AI "scenarios" (if X happens, then say Y) prevents generic "Your CPC went up" responses.
It focuses on the "Why": It pushes the AI to look at the descriptive layer (dimensions) rather than just repeating the metrics already visible in the charts.
It manages the "Confidence" Issue: By giving it specific guardrails (e.g., a CPA ceiling), you ensure its "confidence" is backed by your actual business rules.
Pro-Tip for Implementation:
If you have a stakeholder who already writes a manual summary they love, upload their best manual report as a PDF/Excel to Gemini or ChatGPT first and say:
"Analyze the tone and structure of this report. Now, write a Whatagraph IQ prompt that will replicate this style using live data."
Step 4: Continue to make any manual changes if you want to add or remove any generated text. You can also upload a background image for your summaries.
To add a background, instead of Data navigate to the Background tab where you can upload a file to use for your text widget visualization:
Note:
The text widget and the AI-generated insights will depend on the main calendar date range that you select, so if you want to provide the AI with more context, feel free to enable the comparison period.
The AI will take data from the entire tab or entire report where the text widget exists. This also means that the more metrics you have, the more detailed the summaries will get.
βThe AI might not be optimized to digest extremely long tabs, which consist of 15+ pages and tables containing thousands of rows.
βThe language and length settings are not yet set in stone; you should see more options added in the future.
A quick video overview:
Note: We have done multiple testing rounds to make sure the insights function as flawlessly as they can, however please bear in mind that it can be hard to predict how Artificial Intelligence will behave in certain scenarios. Therefore, we suggest that you review the insights manually at the beginning, just to check how well AI is able to ingest your report format.
