Introducing Custom Tags

We are excited to announce the launch of Custom Tags, a new feature designed to simplify how you organize, manage, and track data within the Source Management Space. This feature allows you to create, apply, and leverage tags in various ways, enhancing your ability to handle large volumes of data while maintaining clear visibility over all relevant sources.

Here’s how you can make the most of this new feature.

Tagging Process in Source Management

The tagging process itself happens within the Source Management Space, allowing you to easily assign tags to the sources you want to track. However, the creation of new tags takes place in the Organized Space. This separation provides flexibility in structuring your data while maintaining ease of use.

Steps to Create Custom Tags:

  1. Navigate to Organize > Dimensions > Create New.

  2. Assign a name, e.g., "Client."

  3. Select "Custom Tag" as the Dimension Rule Type.

Multiple Uses for Custom Tags

Custom tags can be applied in a variety of ways to meet your specific tracking needs. For instance, you can:

  • Tag by Client Industry: Easily group sources that are related to particular client industries.

  • Tag by Region: Organize sources by the specific regions they operate in.

  • Tag by Account Manager: Assign sources to team members or account managers responsible for them.

This flexibility allows you to organize large datasets based on your preferences and business needs.

For example, you can create a tag called "Client Name" with values like Adobe, Figma, and Salesforce. When you select the Client Name dimension, these tags will serve as filterable values, allowing for easy data segmentation.

How to Apply Tags

The process is simple:

  1. Select the sources you wish to tag.

  2. Apply pre-existing tags to those sources.

Once applied, you can use these tags to filter data in the Source Management space, making it easier to locate relevant information. Don’t worry if one source fits multiple categories—you can assign multiple tags to a single source (e.g., a source tagged as Client > Adobe and Account Manager > [Name]).

Tag your sources. Assign which sources belong to that specific value. Don't worry, you can later add more Custom Tag dimensions, and one source can belong to multiple tags. E.g. X source belongs to Client>Adobe and Account manager>[Name].

Using Custom Tags for Reporting

Another major advantage of custom tags is how they enhance reporting. With custom tags, you can break down data based on specific tags to gain deeper insights. Whether you want to analyze performance by industry, region, or team, custom tags give you the ability to filter and generate reports tailored to your business needs.

Combining Tags with Source Groups

For even greater efficiency, you can combine custom tags with Source Groups and the Overview Tab. This combination allows you to work with large datasets more effectively by providing a comprehensive view of all sources in one place. By doing so, you can easily track trends, analyze performance, and manage data at scale.

Custom Tags are a powerful and highly effective tool for organizing and managing your data. They allow for greater flexibility in how you structure, filter, and analyze information, ultimately improving your ability to handle large datasets with ease. Whether used for better reporting or data management, custom tags are a simple solution that enhances your overall efficiency.
