Connecting CallRail to Whatagraph

CallRail connects with an API key - here's where to find it in CallRail and how to add it as a source in Whatagraph.

CallRail connects to Whatagraph using an API key rather than a login. You generate the key in your CallRail account, then paste it into Whatagraph's connection form to add CallRail as a data source you can report on.

How to find your CallRail API key

CallRail issues API keys from your account profile. You'll need a v2 key - create one if you don't already have it.

Step 1. Log in to your CallRail account.

Step 2. Open your Account profile, then click "View Profile".

Step 3. Select API Keys from the Security section in the left menu.

Step 4. Click "Create API V2 Key" to generate a new key.

Step 5. Copy the API key.

Note: CallRail requires a v2 API key. If you've only created a v1 key before, generate a new v2 key in this step.

How to connect CallRail in Whatagraph

Once you have your key, add CallRail as a source from the Data sources page. The connection form asks for just two fields.

Step 1. In Whatagraph, go to Data sources in the left navigation.

Step 2. Click "+ Connect a source", and find CallRail from the list of integrations.

Step 4. In the connection form, fill in:

  • Access name - any label to identify this source in Whatagraph

  • API key - the key you copied from CallRail

Step 5. Click "Add an account".

CallRail is now connected and available to add to your reports.

Tip: The Access name is only a label for this source inside Whatagraph — it can be anything, so use something that tells your CallRail accounts apart, like "CallRail – Company Corp".
