How to connect your Shopify account to Whatagraph

This article presents the steps needed to retrieve the API access key needed to connect your Shopify store.

In order to connect a Shopify store to your Whatagraph account, you will need to fill in the following fields, which can be seen in the screenshots below. This article will help you find the required information. We understand this process is quite cumbersome.

Get Shopify URL

  1. When logged into your Shopify account, click on 'Settings' (button in the bottom left corner of the screen):

  2. Then, choose Domains - your myshopify.com domain should be listed there.

Note: the Shopify store should have a plan that allows access to Shopify's API

Get Client ID and Secret(new Shopify UI)

  1. In the Settings menu, find "Apps", then click on "Build apps in Dev Dashboard":

  2. Click the "Create app" button:

  3. Give the app a memorable name:

  4. Click "Select scopes":

  5. Then tick the following scopes and click “Release”:

    1. Read_analytics

    2. Read_assigned_fulfillment_orders

    3. Read_customers

    4. Read_discounts

    5. Read_draft_orders

    6. Read_fulfillments

    7. Read_gift_cards

    8. Read_inventory

    9. Read_locations

    10. Read_marketing_events

    11. Read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders

    12. Read_orders

    13. Read_product_listings

    14. Read_products

    15. Read_reports

    16. Read_shipping

    17. Read_locales

    18. Read_third_party_fulfillment_orders

  6. Click "Install App":

  7. Once the app is installed, copy the Client ID and Secret available in the "Settings" section:

  8. Find the Shopify channel when connecting a new source, and fill in Shopify URL, Client ID and Client Secret details and then click on "Add an account":

Shopify Access Token (legacy)

  1. In the Settings menu, click on "Apps" and select "Allow legacy custom app development":

  2. Click the 'Develop apps' or 'Develop apps for your store' button:

  3. Click the 'Create an app' button:

  4. Give the app a memorable name:

  5. Select 'Configure Admin API scopes':

  6. Tick the following scopes and click “Save”:

    1. Read_analytics

    2. Read_assigned_fulfillment_orders

    3. Read_customers

    4. Read_discounts

    5. Read_draft_orders

    6. Read_fulfillments

    7. Read_gift_cards

    8. Read_inventory

    9. Read_locations

    10. Read_marketing_events

    11. Read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders

    12. Read_orders

    13. Read_product_listings

    14. Read_products

    15. Read_reports

    16. Read_shipping

    17. Read_locales

    18. Read_third_party_fulfillment_orders

  7. Click 'Install App':

  8. Once the app is installed, click 'Reveal token once', copy it, and paste it to the required field in Whatagraph:

  9. Click the 'Add an account' button on Whatagraph to connect it:
