Have you ever wanted to combine multiple metrics into one formula to get a sum or ROAS? Data blending is an industry term to describe the process of combining information from multiple sources to get a deeper understanding of data and improve the decision-making processes. Below, you can see a guide on how to use our custom formulas in your reports.

Step 1. Click on any widget, and next to the metric you are using, there will be three dots that you can hover over and click on "Apply custom formula":

Step 2. Once you make that selection, a custom formula builder interface pops up where you can choose your operators, other or same channel sources, and metrics:

Note: Here, you have full control of what channels or metrics you want to use. You can multiply or divide metrics and put them into brackets for more complex equations. Don't forget to name it at the top, specify the value type, and outline positive or negative increases.

Step 3. If you want to use the same formula for future reports, click on the "Save as template" button next to the "Apply to widget". The saved formula template will appear in the Templates section:

With Organize, you can also create custom metrics using specific formulas. You can find a guide about this here

Troubleshooting Custom Formula Issues

1. General Troubleshooting Steps

  • Refresh the browser: Occasionally, refreshing the page can resolve temporary glitches.

  • Use Incognito Mode: If refreshing doesn't help, try accessing Whatagraph in incognito mode to rule out browser cache or extension conflicts. Verify whether the issue persists under these conditions.

2. Review the Widget Settings

  • Check the formula availability: Select the widget and look for an 'Edit Formula' option. Check if the setup has all of the required options selected. Example: all metrics have a mathematical sign selected among them.

3. Ensure the Accuracy of Data Sources

  • Cross-check the data sources configured for the custom widget. For example, when using data sources like GA4, confirm that the correct connections are in place. This step helps avoid data discrepancies that could lead to incorrect metrics or missing formula fields.

  • It's advisable to cross-check results from your actual source dashboard and your results in the custom formula to ensure that the data discrepancy is not happening. Make sure that the date ranges and filters are matching your source and your custom formula setup
