Introduction to Goals and Alerts
Make Whatagraph a proactive platform by setting goals and alerts directly within your Overviews. This feature allows you to receive timely notifications when your data requires attention, enabling you to take immediate action and optimise your performance before it's too late.
For example, you can identify underperforming campaigns mid-month and adjust your strategy while there's still time to impact results.
Where to Set Goals in Your Overviews
You can set goals at two different levels within your Whatagraph Overviews:
Summary Cell: Set goals for the total values displayed across an entire metric
Individual Cell: Set goals for specific breakdowns within your Overview (e.g., performance by campaign, country, or traffic source)
Understanding Goal Types
Whatagraph offers three goal types to suit different performance scenarios:
Target: Aim to reach or exceed a specific number (e.g., achieve 10,000 website visitors)
Limit: Ensure values do not exceed a defined threshold (e.g., keep cost-per-acquisition under $50)
Range: Maintain values within specified minimum and maximum boundaries (e.g., keep engagement rate between 2-5%)
Setting Goal Frequencies
Customize your goals according to different date ranges:
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
Quarterly
Yearly

Recommended Date Ranges for Goals
Important: Goals work best with forward-looking standard date ranges:
Today
This week
This month
This Quarter
This year
Note: If you select a past date range, Whatagraph will still calculate the goal, but the pacing information might not be accurate.
Setting Up Alert Notifications
Stay informed about your goal progress by subscribing to receive updates via:
Email: Delivered daily or weekly around 10 am in your timezone
Note: Remember to check your spam folder if you stop receiving notifications. You may need to verify the sender or add Whatagraph to your safe sender's list.
Slack: Delivered daily or weekly around 10 am in your timezone.
Note: The Slack integration requires approval from your workplace administrator. Please ensure you have the necessary permissions before attempting to set up Slack notifications.
Known Limitations
When working with goals and alerts, be aware of these limitations:
Goals cannot be set for custom time periods (e.g., Wednesday to Sunday)
Slack notifications setup might require workplace administrator approval
The range rule does not change colour at the moment (scheduled in future updates)
There might be a slight delay with the notification sending time depending on how crowded the system is
