How Are Data Sources Counted?

Understand how your connected data sources are counted to manage your plan usage and stay within limits.

What is a Data Source?

In Whatagraph, a data source refers to a single, specific connection to a marketing platform or tool. Each platform or account you connect, such as Facebook Ads or Google Analytics, counts as one individual data source.

Important: Only individual data sources are counted. Grouping or bundling multiple platforms or accounts does not reduce the total number.

Where to See Your Data Source Count

To view how many data sources you’ve connected:

  1. Go to the Data Sources section in Whatagraph.

  2. Look at the top of the list, you’ll see a number next to “Connected Sources.”

Note: The number next to Connected Sources is your total data source count.

Data Source Counting Examples

To help you understand how data sources are counted, here are two examples:

Client A's Data Sources:

  • 1 Facebook Page

  • 1 Facebook Ads

  • 1 Instagram

Total: 3 data sources

Client B's Data Sources:

  • 1 Google Analytics

  • 1 Facebook Ads

  • 1 Facebook Page

  • 1 Instagram

Total: 4 data sources

Combined Total for Client A and Client B: 7 data sources

Important: Even if multiple clients use the same platform type (e.g., both use Facebook Ads), each account connection counts as a separate source.
