Overview

This article explains how to create a widget that displays your Instagram paid advertising results. While Instagram's native integration only provides organic performance data, you can access your paid Instagram metrics through the Facebook Ads source connection.

Creating an Instagram Paid Widget

Step 1: Connect Your Facebook Ads Source

  1. Navigate to the Sources section in your dashboard

  2. Click on Add New Source

  3. Select Facebook Ads from the available integrations

  4. Follow the authentication prompts to connect your Facebook Ads account

  5. Confirm the connection is successful

Important: You only need to connect one Facebook Ads source to access both Facebook and Instagram paid data. There's no need for a separate Instagram paid connection.

Step 2: Create a New Widget

  1. Go to your dashboard or report where you want to add the widget

  2. Add Widget from "Charts"

  3. Select the widget type you want to create (Chart, Table, etc.)

  4. Choose Facebook Ads as your data source

Step 3: Apply Instagram Filters

To display only Instagram paid results:

  1. In the widget configuration panel, locate the Filter section

  2. Click Add Filter

  3. Select Publisher platform as the dimension

  4. Choose the operator includes

  5. Select Instagram from the drop-down list

  6. Click Apply

Note: The "Publisher platform" dimension is crucial for separating Instagram data from other Facebook Ads platforms. Make sure this filter is applied correctly to ensure your widget shows Instagram-specific paid results.

Step 4: Configure Your Widget Display

  1. Select the metrics you want to display (Impressions, Reach, Spend, etc.)

  2. Set the time period for data analysis

  3. Add a descriptive title to your widget

Troubleshooting

If your Instagram paid results aren't displaying correctly:

  • Verify your Facebook Ads source is properly connected

  • Confirm you've selected the correct "Publisher platform" filter

  • Check that your Instagram ads are active during your selected time period

  • Ensure your Facebook account has the correct permissions for accessing advertising data
