Due to modifications in Twitter's API functionality and the temporary introduction of new data limitations, you may have noticed a disruption in receiving data from Twitter Organic between July 1st and July 8th. We understand the importance of this data for your reporting needs, and we have taken action to mitigate this issue from future occurrences.

We will be introducing a change in our integration to restore the full functionality of Twitter Organic data. This will require your assistance in setting up a Twitter developer account and getting a subscription to Twitter's Basic API access.

To ensure a seamless transition and avoid any further data gaps, we kindly request that you follow these steps:

  1. Set up a Twitter developer account: Please visit the Twitter Developer platform and create a developer account if you don't already have one. After getting a subscription to Twitter’s Basic API access, this account will enable you to generate an API key that will be connected to our platform.

  2. Connect the new API key to Whatagraph: Once you have obtained your API key, log in to our platform and navigate to the Twitter Organic integration settings. There, you will find an option to enter your API key.

We understand the significance of having a comprehensive dataset for your marketing analysis, and we strongly encourage you to complete the integration process as soon as possible.

If you encounter any difficulties or have any questions regarding this process, our support team is readily available to assist you. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and minimizing any disruption to your reporting workflows.

Setting up a Twitter developer account and generating the API key

Please ensure that you have a Twitter developer account linked to the Twitter account you wish to use as a data source in Whatagraph, as well as a subscription to the Twitter Basic API.

  1. Log in using your Twitter account

  2. Once logged in, click on the Developer portal located in the top right corner of your screen.

  3. Select the Basic subscription option and click on the Subscribe to Basic button.

  4. You will be prompted to describe all of your use cases for Twitter's data and API. Provide the following explanation: "Twitter API access will be utilized to retrieve marketing and analytics data from connected Twitter profiles using the Whatagraph platform to generate marketing reports. This automation aims to streamline manual processes. The acquired data will be used for marketing purposes and to analyze tweet performance."

  5. Ensure that you agree to the terms and conditions by checking the appropriate boxes.

  6. Proceed to add your payment information. Click on the "Add card & Subscribe" button.

Generating and adding your Consumer and Secret keys to Whatagraph.

  1. Now go to your project and project app and click on the "Key" option, which will display your keys and tokens.

  2. In the "Consumer keys" section, click on "Regenerate" to obtain new keys. Copy the keys for later use.

Treat the API key and secret as login credentials. Store them securely for future use. If lost, you'll have to regenerate them and re-verify the connection with new keys.

  3. You will also need to add the callback URL for the integration to work. While still in the project app, go to the Settings tab, scroll down to the User authentication settings and click Set up (or Edit).

Scroll down to the App info section to add the Callback URL / Redirect URL as follows:

    https://live.whatagraph.com/add-integration/twitter

Then make sure that you have selected Web App, Automated App or Bot in the Type of App section.

  4. Copy the keys you have saved and add them to your Twitter integration in Whatagraph's source manager.

  5. Your account should be verified successfully.
